St. Albert Transit- Transit Centres and Bus Stops

This page will be covering St. Albert Transit's Transit Centres.

The initial transfer point in St. Albert was a primitive, unpaved lot with a few transit shelters and wood platforms, located just north of the future St. Albert Transit Centre, in the parking lot of the future Village Tree Mall. This would remain the basic home to a transit centre until August 2020 when Naki was opened. The first permanent transit centre was the St. Albert Transit Centre, located south of the temporary transit centre. This transit centre was renamed to the Village Tree Station with the opening on the St. Albert Exchange on July 24, 2000. This was a short lived name for this location, as in November 13, 2001 the Village Transit Station would relocate around the corner to the southwest side of the mall. Naki would replace the Village Transit Station at the end of August 2020 and is actually located inside of Edmonton City Limits. Naki is positioned to be a terminus on the NW LRT Metro Line extension, and would be the start of St. Albert's portion if/ when LRT gets extended into St. Albert.

The St. Albert Centre Exchange has have been temporarily relocated a few times, so there is a page for that. Additionally, there is a page for bus stops. Although all of the good old stuff that dated back to the early days are gone, we can document examples of what exists today.

Transit Centre vs. Station vs. Exchange.
St. Albert has used them all. As explained in the July 24, 2000 Riders' Guide, "Station" was used for Village Tree to denote that there were park and ride facilities, while St. Albert Centre used "Exchange" as it did not have parking and ride spaces and was just for transferring between buses. However, in the meantime the St. Albert Centre Exchange has received park and ride spaces.

Some dates are unknown and for now best are approximated.
