The St. Albert Transit Centre was St. Albert's first permanent transit centre, built south of the temporary terminal along Gervis Road. North of the Transit Centre is St. Albert Trail which allowed buses quick access to points north in St. Albert, and south into Edmonton. While I don't know exactly when this transit centre opened at this point, the Village Tree Mall opened in 1981 so that might be a fair guess.
At the north end of the transit centre was a brick building for customer service, space to wait and this was also a Greyhound agent, and naturally that means Greyhound also used this terminal.
Given that for the first years of the existence of this transit centre Edmonton Transit operate the service, it appears at least some standard Edmonton Transit bus shelters were used out here, with some still retaining Edmonton blue and yellow stripes well into the 1990's. There were also a few unique concrete shelters.
On July 24, 2000 St. Albert Exchange opened as the second transit centre in St. Albert, with the St. Albert Transit Centre being renamed to the Village Transit Station. It was at this point that commuter routes were renumbered into the 200's.
This would be a short lived name for this facility as it's replacement was being built around the corner. On Tuesday, November 13, 2001 the new Village Transit Station was opened.
Along with the demise of the transit centre, the Village Tree Mall was on a downward spiral. Some portions of the original mall would be repurposed, but largely the site of the mall and transit centre were rebuilt like a more modern power centre with a vast parking lot with buildings dotted around the parameter under the name
Village Landing.
Original park and ride capacity was 150 vehicles, but this grew to 250 before the relocation in 2001.

These 3 photos were probably from October 1999 when I had a PD day. Maybe the photos meant to be of specific buses, but this was early on for me for taking photos. All of these years later, they're useful because of what else they do show. In this case, mostly high floor buses, and shelter with Edmonton Transit stripes.

You'll see on the ETS Transit Centre pages I liked getting examples of only New Look's at transit centres. That explains this shot. Note the bus shelter might well have originally came from Edmonton Transit but has been updated with St. Albert's colours.

St. Albert Transit building and Greyhound agent. St. Albert Transit would continue hosting Greyhound at the XXXX terminal when Village Tree relocated there.

The Village Tree terminal as viewed from the south end. I'm pretty sure this was just before the new terminal opened just down the road, with signage and equipment ready to shut down the Village Tree terminal and remove it.
