2006 New Flyer DE40LFR #s 6003-6004
In 2006 ETS purchased
a total of 4 hybrid buses from New Flyer. 2 were powered by a ISE Thundervolt hybrid
drive and these were numbered 6003 and 6004. Both buses arrived in Edmonton in
July 2007 and were the last of the 3 different types of hybrids to arrive. The
buses were in regular service starting in mid-January 2008, after having
only seen limited service before that. Although these buses were not delivered to ETS until 2007,
the builders plates are dated December 2006, and hence they will be listed as
2006 units. These buses also included A/C in their original configuration.
Due to numerous reliablity issues, both units were soon returned to New Flyer in Winnipeg
for conversion to standard diesel. See this page for further information and photos after conversion.
