CMBC - Translink Vancouver 1998 New Flyer C40LF #3283-3308

This fleet of 25 buses (there is no 3300) had an interesting history. Originally built as C40LF's with Detroit Diesel Series 50G natural gas engines, operated out of the Port Coquitlam Transit Centre, in 2001 3288, 3292, 3302, 3306, 3307, 3308 were retrofitted with Cummins Westport C Gas Plus engines. These 6 buses participated in the Testing the Power of Tomorrow program, with 3292 and 3306 used to test CNG, while the remaining 4, 3288, 3302, 3306, and 3307 and tested a hydrogen and CNG combination. The 6 Cummins powered buses were in service until 2011-2012. The remaining 19 buses were repowered with Series 50 EGR engines by Cullen Diesel Power. These 19 remained in service until retired between 2016 and 2019.
