Strathcona County Transit's first low floor bus was an ex New Flyer demonstrator bus (#9401). Originally powered by a Detroit Diesel 6V92TA engine and a ZF 4HP500 transmission, it was later repowered to a Detroit Diesel Series 50 engine and Allison B400R5 transmission. In late 2004 - early 2005 this bus was rebuilt and emerged in the XL-II paint scheme. It its later years, after the delivery of many Nova LFS buses, this bus primarily covered local and school service in Sherwood Park. By 2010-2011, it was retired from service and sold at auction.
