This page will cover everything else that runs for LRT that isn't Track
Maintenance, Signals/ Power, and Inspectors. For the older vehicles, this is
somewhat straight forward as ETS had a smaller system and so had less vehicles
and their assignments were on the exterior of the vehicles. In later years, ETS's entire Facilities Maintenance section fell
under LRT Operations and Maintenance (I'm not sure when this started either, so
this might be nothing new). Around 2015/2016 vehicles started showing up decaled
for "Engineering and Maintenance". Some of this equipment was new, some was
older. Some had an LRT decal, some didn't. This has made it a lot hard to
determine who is who, so to an extent this is all a best guess. Additionally,
newer equipment has been turning up in regular City of Edmonton livery. So, even
then it will be easy to mix up Bus vs. LRT Facilities, or LRT Facilities vs. LRT
Track Maintenance. For inclusion on this page the vehicle will need to be
determined to be used by LRT regularly. This could be that it has an LRT decal.
It could also include having a light bar. This is a feature much more commonly
found on equipment used around the LRT, vs. the 2 strobes typical City vehicles
receive. As well as simply multiple sightings. It isn't uncommon to see random
City of Edmonton vehicles performing maintenance work at stations that are
perhaps beyond the scope of ETS Facilities crews. It's not uncommon to see Bus
Facilities helping with platform snow removal.
Some of the notable vehicles:
J2123- turned up randomly around 2010, over 20 years old.
G2242- came from Track Maintenance, had 2 liveries in service for over 15 years
H2025- came from Bus
H2315- was Fare Maintenance, went to Track Equipment Maintenance
H2320- came from Bus
K2408- showed up in COE livery for Track Maintenance. Must have been a short
term.
R2422- went from Bus to Track Maintenance, strobes replaced with light bar, then
to Engineering and Maintenance, lost the light bar got strobes back

| J2123 is one of the many vehicles that seem to end up with interesting histories being with LRT. While I'm not sure what it was specifically used for before, it did have a frame work around the box and a pair of strobe lights. I'm not sure if in this incarnation it was used for Maintenance, or if it was a Track Maintenance truck. In 2010 it showed up repainted, with a powered lift gate and a canopy over the box. Unfortunately we seem to have only spotted it around for 2010, with no sign of it afterward. Despite E6967 being around it was still quite surprising to see this thing turn up! | |||||||
