Mill Woods Transit Centre was located along Hewes Way, east of the Mill Woods Town Centre shopping mall. This transit centre opened on September 3, 2000 and largely replaced Lakewood Transit Centre as the main bus terminal in central Mill Woods. Along with the Heritage Transit Centre (now Century Park), these two transit centres introduced the ETS clock tower which would become a signature feature of all ETS transit centres and LRT stations to date.

This transit centre featured a centre platform and shelter building, perimeter bus bays, and a island for the one long bus stop on Hewes Way. Originally the Hewes way stop was limited to school specials but as the number of routes using the MWTC has increased, the 23 and 340 were regular routes that utilize this stop. The terminal building does feature a kiosk for a vendor, but the operation out of it was short lived.

Mill Woods Transit Centre was the Edmonton destination for the short lived Beaumont Transportation Service as well as the route 99 when a second shot was taken at a Beaumont service. The current Beaumont Transit eventually return to Mill Woods, but at the new Mill Wood TC. Strathcona County Transit also operated the route 415 from the Strathcona Station to Mill Wood Transit Centre via their Wye Road transit centre and Grant McEwan's Mill Woods campus. This route was canceled, and Grant McEwan has since moved out of it's Mill Woods campus now.

Besides replacing the analog clock face with a digital display there have been few other changes. Introduction of articulated buses saw them use the furthest north north facing bay, first with the 8 and when the 15 took over artics from the 8 they simply swapped bays.

The Mill Woods Transit Centre was replaced by a new Mill Woods Transit Centre located closer to the Valley Line Southeast LRT terminus station, with this version closing on April 24, 2021 and the new Mill Wood TC opening with the rollout of the BNR on April 25, 2021. After having the shelter building demolished, and the entrances barricaded for a period, the site was repurposed as a recycling depot, and now with the barricades removed ETS standby buses will use the former terminal to layover.
