Located on 100 St between Jasper Ave and MacDonald Drive, this bus stop since at least 1971 has been one of the busier bus stops Downtown. While I don't know exactly how long a bus stop has been at this location, I suspect the shelter building was built at the same time as the surround office towers in 1971. The bus stop is situated on a site with two office towers and a 3rd smaller building. The southern tower was originally known as the AGT Tower, while the northern tower was McCauley Plaza. These later been Telus Plaza South and Telus Plaza North, before becoming known today as Telus House Edmonton for the South tower, and ATB Place for the North tower. The 3rd building is a 2 story building immediately South of the shelter structure and is known as the ATB Place Annex. ATB Tower was completed in 1969 and the Telus House Edmonton tower in 1971. It is assumed the bus shelter structure was completed around that time.
In 2003 the building was rebuilt from it's original form which was an open air shelter. The entrances to the original building were angled inwards to help prevent wind and weather from entering. The original basic structure was retained, but now rebuilt as an enclosed building with doors and bright, modern finishes and featured the now standard ETS clock tower, this one being early enough that it originally had the clock face before being replaced with a digital display.
The building was modified in 2022 to remove the doors, returning the building to an open air concept, but also all seating inside.

As mentioned earlier, this has been one of the busiest stops in Downtown. It served every bus route that ran from Mill Woods to Downtown, which included a plethora of peak hour Downtown express extensions of routes that otherwise wouldn't have ran beyond Millgate or Lakewood. Additionally, it served a few routes to Capilano, 1 route to the University (2 if you included when the 57 existed alongside the 7, with the 57 being a short turn 7), and in later years an express route to Meadows (90, and then 500x under the BNR).
Just before Horizon 2000, 17 Edmonton Transit routes stopped there, plus Strathcona, while under the Horizon 2000 this ballooned to 21 (with 1 route, the 86, being a late night route) plus Strathcona. Despite some changes, there was still 21 routes, plus 4 Sherwood Park routes by 2009. For a period from September 2, 2003 - March 2004 ETS was contracted to run the 98 Beaumont that used this stop.
Through the mid 2010's there would be changes here and there, but consolidation of the Mill Woods peak hour extensions began to reduce the number of routes serving this stop. Those service hours were being replaced by additional trips on the 15.
Just before the BNR started, this stop was down to 12 ETS routes, and 2 Strathcona routes. Under the BNR this would drop to 4 ETS routes and 2 Strathcona routes. From 21 to 4!
This would temporarily increase to 5 routes when ETS would replace the 510x, which had followed a route similar to previous Mill Woods to Downtown routes, with the 73 which followed the VLSE alignment a lot closer than the 510x, and also introduced the 511-Owl service to provide coverage when the 73, or in the future the VLSE LRT, weren't operating during "Owl" service window.
This would increase further to 6 when the 73 was split into the 73A and 73B on December 4, 2022 with one branch serving the Muttart Stop, and the other the Strathern Stop on 95 Ave.
With the removal of the 73A and B in February 2024, this bus stop was back down to 4 ETS routes, 1 that only ran in the Owl service period.

Looking south. Almost empty. Although it is a few days before Christmas, Covid means that despite being during peak hour, there's virtually no one around.

Bus Stop Signs Through The Years
A lot of routes already are gone by 2020. The 98 is visible between 85 and 87. On the left, the missing routes are probably the 57, 64, 65, 66, and 69.

Final signage before the BNR. Note that the Mill Woods express extensions are down to the 61 and 68, with the 62 and 63 being the latest casualties. Under the BNR the 6 would become the 8, the 70 the 523, and the 90 the 500x. The 510x would replace the 8 and 15. The 520x is a phantom route. It showed up on pre-BNR signs around Downtown. We assume it was a variant of the 510x. Or maybe a typo?

The 73 and 511-Owl replacing the 510x. This was short lived, before the 73 was split up 3 month later.

And now, the 73 split into the 73 and 73B, although it was still a few days away before this change took effect.
