NAIT Station opened with the rest of the NLRT extension on September 6, 2015 as the the original end of line. This station was built as a temporary station, pending the development of the former Municipal Airport lands as the Blatchford neighbourhood. Being a temporary station, the platform was only built long enough to support 3 car trains, and the the shelter structure was a lot more basic than would be built at Kingsway/ RAH and McEwan Stations. The portable substation, which was used during construction of the NLRT to allow upgrades to the Churchill Substation, was installed as well as a portable operators washroom. After the stations replacement was opened, NAIT/ Blatchford market, during the spring and summer of 2024 the platform was demolished and replaced by a planter bed, and the substation and operators washroom was removed.
