EDMONTON TRANSIT SYSTEM
2012 New Flyer C40LFR #6007-6008

After having numerous issues with the Hybrid buses, ETS decided to try CNG as another alternative energy source. A pair of New Flyer C40LFR's were purchased in 2012 for the sake of testing the new fuel, as well as analyzing cold weather performance. Equipped with Cummins / Westport ISL-G engines, the two buses were most likely an add-on to some other transit property's order. The specs differ slightly from ETS' standard, as the buses include air conditioning, no warm-wall heating, Luminator "Titan" (high resolution) destination signs, and other minor differences. While technically completed in October 2012, the two buses weren't delivered to ETS until late 2012 and didn't enter service until early 2013. Although the buses ran out of Ferrier Garage, they were stored in the Paterson shops due to the unique safety requirements of CNG. In April 2015, both units were sold to Medicine Hat Transit.
