EDMONTON TRANSIT SYSTEM In 2006, ETS purchased
a total of four hybrid buses from New Flyer. Two were powered by a GM/Allison EP40 hybrid
drive and these were numbered 6001 and 6002. Both buses arrived in Edmonton in
late February 2007. 6002 ended up in Calgary for a brief time for Calgary
Transit to look at. 6002 was also fitted with LED interior lighting, likely
Luminator's then-new Quantum LED bus lighting system. 6001 recieved a similar retrofit shorly after. Along with 2007 D40LFR's
#4742-43, these were the only three buses to carry this particular style of interior lighting (the LED interior lighting found on
the 2009 and newer buses utilizes light-diffusing plastic to create a more conservative look). These buses also included A/C.
Both were more-recently refitted with Smartbus GPS & stop announcement systems and operator shields.

New
Flyer 2007 DE40LFR #6001-6002
6002 was sent back to New Flyer for reconfiguration, and returned in November 2008 as the "ETS Platinum" bus. See this page for further information.
6001 suffered major collision damage in February 2009, and was out of service for over a year. Both buses operated on a wide variety of routes through their service lives, however were
more often than not assigned to peak hour extras. 6001 was retired on October 13th, 2022, and 6002 on October 18th, 2022. 6001 reappeared in the Paterson compound as a parts bus by
mid-2023. 6002, still intact, was sent to auction in Calgary, presumably to draw less attention to it as ETS does not normally resell full-sized buses.
