EDMONTON TRANSIT SYSTEM
2007 New Flyer D40LFR
#4523-4572
The 2007 bus order as originally planned consisted of 50 units (#s 4523-4572). In early 2007, ETS chose to exercise their options all at once, and purchased an additional 181 buses on top of the original 50 for a total of 231 units. For the sake of organization,
this series has thus been divided into two separate pages. These were ETS' first New Flyer D40LFR's, featuring restyled front and rear ends. They were also the first to include the updated Cummins ISL to meet EPA 2007 emissions standards (this package includes several upgrades,
ranging from particulate burners to reduced noise emissions). Despite the new model designation, some units are actually listed as plain D40LF's on their VIN plates. Originally delivered with two camera video monitoring systems, all have since been upgraded to the five camera setup
found on the later models. The first few units entered service without the silver ETS plates on the front; all have since had these added. Later retrofits include blue ETS insignia seat inserts (select units only), Smartbus GPS & stop announcement systems, exterior cameras, operator's
compartment shields and A/C units. For whatever reason, #4530 features slightly different bumpers from the rest of the series. #4543 arrived a few months late after being used for demonstration purposes by Altoona. As of November 2023, all of these buses are in active service.
