EDMONTON TRANSIT SYSTEM
2004-2005 Corbiel / Ford E Series DATS shuttles
From 1976 until 2003, ETS' DATS (Disabled Adult Transit Service - a door to door bus service for adults over 16 years of age incapable of using regular transit) operations were mostly contracted out to various agencies. DATS became city-owned in 2004, resulting in the need for a fleet of buses and a new garage (Percy Wickman - located across the street from the Paterson Shops) to store them in. After the sucess of the first order of Corbeils, #s 5002-5010, ETS ordered an additional 81 units for delivery in mid-to-late 2004 into 2005. These buses differ slightly from the previous order, with the most notable feature being the dual rear window rear door setup. All also feature the Ford E-450 diesel chassis. Most of these units were retired in 2013 after the arrival of new buses, however a few remained in service until late 2014. In mid 2013, #5027 was converted into a mobile training centre for Workspace Edmonton, only to be retired shortly after.
