EDMONTON TRANSIT SYSTEM
1995 Overland ELF 125 / Ford E-450 diesel #s 55-58
After deciding against the tri-axle CNG design of ELF #54, ETS received four diesel powered ELFs in 1995. These were similar in design to ELF #53 (the lone diesel delivered in 1993),
however they featured updated rear window configurations, larger front destination signs, and the then-new Ford Power Stroke diesel engines. #s 55, 56, and 58 received Balios destination signs in the early 2000s, while #57 retained its original rollsigns.
#56 also underwent a minor rebuild sometime around 2003, at which point it lost its "ServicePlus" decals and gained updated ETS logos in place of the original "Flying E" logos. #57 was retired sometime around 2004-2005,
and #55 in early 2008. #s 56 and 58 survived until the mass retirement of the ELFs in 2011, for a total of 16 years in regular service. Not bad at all for a bus with a design life of 5-7 years!

55 at Lakewood as a route 79. At the time this was the only ELF left in the fleet with rollsigns, and thus is the only ELF to have ever displayed "Lakewood" on the signs while in revenue service (this particular incarnation of the route 79 was created in September 2002, at which point all of the other ELFs had already been refitted with Balios destination signs). |

56 in the Parkallen neighbourhood as a route 313 University. I believe that this bus was supposed to be retired at this point, but it ended up back in service for a few more years due to a para transit bus shortage! |
