In 2001, Calgary Transit received three separate orders of New Flyer D40LFs. The last 30, #'s 7777-7782, arrived in summer/fall 2001. Originally equiped with
Cummins ISC engines and Allison B400R5 transmissions, many have been retrofitted with Cummins ISL engines due to ongoing issues with the ISC.
These were also Calgary Transit's first full-sized buses delivered with Balios destination signs.
