#2101 and 2102 are unique vehicles in the Calgary Transit fleet. Built in 1988, these cars use AC traction motors,
as opposed to DC traction motors found in the rest of the U2 fleet. These two cars operated in Edmonton as #3001 and 3002,
before coming to Calgary and running as the same numbers. After the demo period was up, Calgary Transit, being short of cars,
purchased both cars. They retained their fleet numbers of 3001 and 3002 until being renumbered to 2101 and 2102 in
1999. Both cars saw different uses over the years, including being used as slave cars between 2 U2 DC's, leading 2
U2 DC's, running together as a pair, running as slave cars between 2 SD-160 cars, and running with an SD160 car
in the center as a slave. A sample of all possible consists (that have been
seen in revenue service) are below with the
timeline of when they ran in the respective configuration. 2101 was retired in December 2015, while 2102 remained in service until August 2016. 2102 was scrapped, while 2101 was converted into the "SCOUT" line inspection car.
