By the end of 1999, 3 New Flyer Invero D40i Prototypes were built to show off New Flyer's new design of low floor buses.  This new bus could have a seating capacity of up to 43 passengers and came with a well lit interior with modern computer technology intergraded into the bus.  Calgary Transit had the 43 passenger single width exit door version (Invero #3) on loan for the day when officials overlooked this bus for possible future orders.
