In 1972, Calgary Transit received an order for 17 Flyer D700A's #523-539. Buses 523-526 had the single width exit doors while buses 527-539 had the double folding rear doors. Both sets of buses were powered by the Detroit Diesel 6V71N engine with the Spicer Model 183 transmission in them. These buses were pulled off the road by about 1981 and sold by the fall of 1983. I only know of 1 bus from this order (#533) that is still in operating condition and is cosmetically in pretty good condition, but the rest of them that I know of are in harsh shape. They were all retired for various mechanical defects ranging from cracked engine bulkheads, broken engine mounts, defective drive shafts, right down to bad frames too.
