Placer County

Placer County provides a number of transit services throughout the county and surrounding areas. Placer County Transit provides local transit service in the western area of Placer County as far east as Alta, into Sacramento. Place Commuter Express operates as far east as Cofax, into Downtown Sacramento with highway coaches. There is also a Dial-A-Rider service in these areas. All of these operations utilize a similar livery. Perhaps the most interesting operation is the Tahoe Area Regional Transit serving the Northshore of Lake Tahoe, a few ski resorts and Truckee. This operation uses a different paint scheme and doesn't connect with the other Place County operations, and also features real time online bus tracking. 1 of TART's routes crosses the California/ Nevada state border at Crystal Bay and travels a short distance into Nevada. The majority of the transit buses in operation are CNG Orion V's and cover models ranging from 30'-40' and in widths of 96" and 102". In fact, the only Orion V model not in the fleet is the 40'X96" 05.502. The Gillig diesel that is still running (as of March 9, 2015 based on NextBus) for TART is a rarity in the fleet.

Please note that not all vehicle models are listed here; this page only includes those that we currently have photos of.
