Public Transit Victoria (Melbourne) Trams - C Class

When the Melbourne tram system was privatized in the early 2000's, operations were divided between two different contractors. Yarra Trams, the group that ultimately ended up becoming the sole operator of the system, began ordering replacement trams in 2001. The Melbourne C Class tram, known elsewhere as the Alstrom Citadis, actually consists of two different models. The 36 three-section units delivered in 2001 are referred to as class C1, while the five restyled five-section units delivered in 2008 are referred to as class C2.
