STRATHCONA COUNTY TRANSIT
2014 Alexander Dennis Enviro 500 #8001-8014  

Following the success of demonstrator unit #7000, Strathcona County Transit placed an order for 14 Alexander Dennis Enviro 500s. Delivered in early 2014, they effectively replaced the remaining New Flyer D60LFRs and GM/MCI Classics, as well as the Setra S417 highway coaches and possibly some of the earlier Prevosts. They are now the primary units used on commuter service to and from Edmonton. Powered by Cummins ISL engines and Allison B500R transmissions, they differ from the demonstrator unit in the fact that they feature restyled front and rear ends and low profile upper decks. Unit #8001 was badly damaged in a front end collision on its first day in revenue service (February 10th, 2014) and did not return to service until May 2015.
