ST. ALBERT TRANSIT
2013 BYD Auto K9 CK6120LGEV2 #1 Battery/ Electric

During the month of August, 2014 St. Albert Transit took part in the battery/ electric test which was underway in Edmonton with a pair of BYD Motors battery/ electric buses. #1 was the bus that ended up running with St. Albert Transit. The bus saw service on a variety of routes locally in St. Albert as well as commuter runs to Edmonton. St. Albert reported a 78% decrease in fuel costs with the demonstrator bus. St. Albert was slated to receive a winterized, and North American built BYD bus in late 2014/ early 2015 as part of a test of the buses during the winter, however, BYD hasn't been able to get the buses to ETS yet. In the mean time, a New Flyer XE40 has operated during March 2015. #1's builders plate shows a model CK6120LGEV2. While the generic model is K9, which doesn't seem to be indicated in the actual model.
