NLRT Pocket Track Construction at Health Sciences

As part of the NLRT project to NAIT Station, the intention was to have NLRT trains turn back at Health Sciences Station. This required the construction of a pocket track south of the Station and crossover to allow this turnback operation. Due to the CBTC signalling issues, and subsequently running weekday and Saturday Metro Line trains to Century Park, so far this pocket track has only seen limited use during evening and Sunday periods. In fact, although the block signal system is now up and running, ETS has stepped LRT frequency down to 20 minutes during Covid to support the Stadium project, Metro Line 7 days a week run through to Century Park at all time periods.
