EDMONTON TRANSIT SYSTEM
2005 New Flyer D40LF #4438-4477

Delivery of these 40 D40LF buses began in March 2005, however most were probably constructed in 2004. Very similar to the 2004 units, these buses are also equipped with Cummins ISL engines and Allison B400R5 transmissions. The only real differences from the previous order are the inclusion of a rear-facing wheelchair position on the driver's side (which was last seen on the 2001 order) and an updated dashboard design. #4455 demoed an operator shield system in 2010. Later retrofits include blue ETS insignia seat inserts (select units only), Smartbus GPS & stop announcement systems, interior and exterior cameras, operator's compartment shields & A/C units, and smart card readers for the ARC fare system. As of November 2023, all of these buses with the exception of one are in active service. #4463 suffered extensive fire damage in June 2009 and was subsequently replaced under warranty (with the lone 2010 unit #4875).
