EDMONTON TRANSIT SYSTEM
1963 GMDD TDH-5301 #444-473

The 3rd and final order of TDH-5301's for ETS was for 30 buses, #444-473. However, ETS only ever operated 29 buses from this order. #445 was damaged while being delivered to ETS. ETS took the insurance payment for the bus and Calgary ended up purchasing the bus, fixing it, and numbering it 551. Like ETS's first 2 series of TDH-5301's that were all retired in the mid to late 1980's, some of the 1963's were retired at this time. However, a number of them were running until 1994. #448 ran until October 1998, and #458 until the Spring of 1999. #448 was also the first bus painted in Edmonton's white, blue and yellow paint scheme. At this time the bus had blue numbers instead of the black ones every other bus in the white paint scheme had. However, it was changed to the black numbers at some point. #472 was leased from Edmonton Transit by Strathcona County Transit in 1991, and purchased in 1994. #472 ran with Strathcona until 1998 or 1999, when it was acquired by Busex and eventually sold. This bus was also a protoype for the black Firestone bumpers. #s 448 and 458 were removed from ETS property in September 2002, probably going to H&M Towing. These buses were powered by the Detroit Diesel 6V-71 engine and Allison VH-9 transmission.
