ETS' first significant 40' bus order in nearly ten years consists of 110 New Flyer XD40 models. Originally slated for 2017 delivery, various budgeting and tender delays resulted in the order being combined with the 2018 order, hence the large number of units. While similar to the handful of XD's ETS recieved in 2013, these units differ in that they feature A/C, blue plastic hard shell seating (4ONE Gemini model), exterior cameras, and updated Allison B3400xfe transmissions. They were also among the first fitted with driver shields in 2019. Unit #7000 entered service in early May 2018, with others following shortly after. These buses allowed ETS to retire the majority of the 1998-99 D40LF's by mid-2019.
