EDMONTON TRANSIT SERVICE
2008/09 Siemens SD-160 EDM IV #1038-1074

#1038 arrived at the Cromdale tail track on May 8, 2008, and was lowed to ETS rails on May 9, 2008, starting delivery of 37 SD-160 LRV's coming to Edmonton for the SLRT extension. Originally, only 26 cars were ordered, however, City Council voted to exercise an option for 11 additional cars to increase capacity, allowing all/ the majority of peak hours train sets to be 4 car consists. Edmonton's SD-160's are radically different than Calgary's cars. Edmonton's have received updated styling, with a front end similar to Siemens S-70 LRV. Edmonton also as a number of different options, including air conditioning (hence the sealed windows), LED destination signs including one on each side of the car near the articulation joint, interior electronic passenger information signs, CCTV cameras instead of side mirrors, and a different style of marker light. Cars should start to show up for motorman training in September, and after that is complete, enter revenue service. At the same time, ETS will be shipping out U-2's to Bombardier in New York for a major refurbishment starting in the summer of 2008.

The main section will have regular SD-160 photos, while separate links will cover LRV delivery.
