Calgary Transit was one of the planned stops along the tour for the Orion VII to drum up some new orders.  As Calgary Transit at that point had no firm order for their 2004 order, the Orion VII diesel version was tested out by Calgary Transit officials for about a week.  At the 2001 APTA convention, there was an Orion VII CNG model on display.  Along with the diesel and CNG versions of the Orion VII, there was a prototype Orion VII Diesel/Electric Hybrid that was on demonstration in Edmonton, Alberta just before the diesel one came to Calgary.
