Calgary Transit purchased 34 Orion 01.504 buses in 1982. They were numbered 247-280. These buses have power steering which the 1980 Orion 01.504's did not have. These buses were intended for use was on lesser traveled routes where a 35' long bus would be better suited than a 40' bus. The Orion 1 was purchased instead of the T6H-4523N offered by GM because it was cheaper. All of these buses have been retired from service with Calgary Transit. These buses were powered by the Detroit Diesel 6V-53N engine and the Allison MT-643 transmission.
